The ICAB By-Laws form the foundation of the Institute’s governance, outlining the rules that regulate membership, public practice, council structure, committee duties, disciplinary powers, and administrative protocols. They define what it means to be a member, how membership may be restricted or revoked, and how ICAB functions as a self-regulatory body.
These regulations establish the framework for members engaged in public accounting. They define what constitutes public practice, outline eligibility for General and Specialty Practising Certificates, and detail the requirements for supervised post-qualification experience. Members must also maintain their CPD obligations and comply with ICAB’s ethics standards throughout the period of practice.

CPD ensures that ICAB members remain competent and up to date in their professional knowledge. Members must complete:
Verifiable CPD includes seminars, technical meetings, and structured courses. Non-verifiable CPD includes reading and self-study. Exemptions may be granted under special circumstances, and failure to comply may lead to disciplinary action.
Search ICAB’s public directory of members in good standing.

ICAB’s complaints and disciplinary framework outlines how members can be investigated and sanctioned for misconduct. All complaints are reviewed by independent committees. You have the right to raise a concern about any Chartered Accountant registered with ICAB.
If you have a concern about the conduct of an ICAB member, our disciplinary process is here to help.

These regulations govern student admission, conduct, progression, and examination eligibility within ICAB. They outline ethical expectations, define disciplinary grounds, and ensure that students maintain professional standards as they work toward full membership. Students joining under the Joint Examination Scheme with ACCA are required to register with ICAB as Barbados’ national professional accountancy organisation.
Members of the public may submit complaints about the professional conduct of an ICAB member using our online form. Submissions are reviewed by ICAB and referred to the Investigations Committee where appropriate.
