Read the IESBA® Code of Ethics Handbook. The Code promotes integrity, objectivity, professional competence, confidentiality, and ethical behaviour across the accounting profession.

The IESBA® Code of Ethics is an internationally recognized framework that establishes ethical principles and independence standards for professional accountants. ICAB has adopted these standards as their own, to help ensure members maintain professionalism, integrity, and public trust in their work.
ICAB has formally adopted the International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants® (IESBA®) Code of Ethics, aligning Barbados with globally accepted ethical and independence standards. These principles guide member conduct and support confidence in the accounting profession. Grounded in public trust and international best practices, the Code provides a framework for ethical decision-making in the accounting profession.
The following principles serve as a broad reference point for professional responsibilities and conduct in accounting. They are designed to guide behaviour, support ethical awareness, and maintain public confidence over time.
Be honest and straightforward in all professional relationships.
Gain exposure, guidance, and opportunities that support your studies and long-term career growth
Maintain professional knowledge and act diligently.
Respect the confidentiality of information acquired.
Comply with laws and avoid any conduct that discredits the profession.

ICAB members must apply ethical principles not only in statutory audits or reporting engagements, but in all client interactions and professional decisions. The Code includes detailed provisions on independence, responding to non-compliance with laws and regulations (NOCLAR), and guidance for professional accountants in business.
If you believe a member has breached the ICAB Code of Ethics, you may submit a formal complaint. ICAB investigates all valid concerns in line with our disciplinary procedures.
