Andrew Brathwaite - President

Andrew Brathwaite has been a member of Council since 2002 and is the President of ICAB for 2018-2019, having previously served as President, Vice-President, and Treasurer of ICAB.  He is also the current Chairman of ICAB’s Legislation and By-Law Review Committee.  A practitioner with 25 years of experience in the profession, Andrew is an Audit Partner at KPMG Barbados, and is a Practising Member and Fellow of ICAB, as well as a member of the Institute of Chartered Professional Accountants of Nova Scotia.  Prior to joining KPMG in 2015, Andrew ran his own small accounting firm for 10 years, providing audit, accounting and tax services to small and medium sized businesses. 

He has presented on auditing and financial reporting standards in Barbados and the Caribbean and served for six years as a member of the SME Implementation Group of the IFRS Foundation, having been appointed in 2010 as one of its inaugural members. On January 1, 2018, Andrew was appointed as a member of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC’s) Small and Medium Practices (SMP) Committee for a three-year term.

 
      Bruce McClean – Vice President

Bruce McClean has been a member of Council since 2010 and is the Vice President of ICAB for 2018 – 2019.  He is also the current Chairman of the Accounting & Auditing Standards Committee.  Bruce is a Partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers East Caribbean Firm with over 20 years of experience in the accountancy profession.  Bruce specialises in providing assurance services to clients in the life and non-life insurance sector and is the Firm's Insurance and Risk Management Leader.  He also currently leads the technical and consultation group for PwC in the Caribbean and the East Caribbean Barbados firm.

Bruce is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, UK (FCCA), Fellow of ICAB, and a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors, USA (IIA).

      Lisa Alleyne – Secretary

Lisa Alleyne is the Campus Bursar at the University of The West Indies, and has held that post for the past seven years.  As Campus Bursar she is responsible for the finances at the Campus.  She worked at KPMG Barbados from 1998 to 1999 being engaged in audits ranging from telecommunications to offshore insurance companies, before moving to the University of The West Indies in December 1999.  Lisa has a BSc (Hons) in Accounting, an MBA from Oxford Brookes University, and is a Fellow of the Certified and Chartered Accountants of Scotland, a Fellow of ICAB and a Member of Institute of Management Accountants (CMI).

She joined ICAB in 2014 as a member of the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Committee and later joined Council as a member in 2015.  She is currently Deputy Chair of the CPD Committee.

      Suzena Turton – Treasurer

Suzena Turton is a sole practitioner who previously worked with KPMG, PricewaterhouseCoopers and EY where she was the manager on audits ranging from Banking and Mortgage Companies, Retail and International Business Companies.  Suzena is also a part-time lecturer in accounting at the University of the West Indies where she has been doing this from 1996.  Suzena first joined ICAB in 1996 and became a member of Council in 2016.  She is currently a member of the Admissions Committee.   Suzena is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). 

      Lisa Padmore – Immediate Past President

Lisa Padmore is an Assurance partner at EY Caribbean, resident in Barbados.  She has enjoyed over 25 years of public accounting experience serving as engagement lead partner for large, complex clients in the Consumer Products and Construction sectors in Barbados and within the wider Caribbean. 

Lisa was the 4th female President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Barbados (ICAB) form 2015-2017.  She is a Practising Member and Fellow of ICAB, and is the alternate director for ICAB on the Board of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of the Caribbean.  On November 1, 2018, Lisa was appointed to the Board of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC).  Prior to her appointment to the IFAC Board, Lisa served on the Professional Accountancy Organization (PAO) Development Committee of IFAC as the representative of The Chartered Professional Accounts of CANADA (CPA Canada) from January 2017 – October 2018.

      J. Roger Arthur

Roger Arthur has been a member of Council since 2008 and has previously served as President, Vice President and Secretary of ICAB.  Roger is a former Chairman of the CPD, Taxation and Communications Committees, and is currently the Chairman of the Nominations Committee and a member of the Member Services Committee.  Roger is a Fellow of ICAB and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).

     

Rueben Blenman

Rueben Blenman, FCPA, FCGA, FCA, is a Chartered Accountant and the founder and Manager of Jamdos Management Services, providing accounting, consultancy and property management solutions since 2005. He was previously employed as a Financial Controller in the Tourism Industry for nine years.

Rueben has been actively involved in the Accounting Associations for which he is a member. He has served CGA Barbados from 1997 to 2008, including holding office as President from 2003-2005. He was also the Caribbean’s Representative to the CGA Canada Board. Rueben served CGA Caribbean from 2008 to 2015 as a Director and chair of the Finance Committee.

His dedication to the accounting profession is further manifested in his involvement with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Barbados (ICAB), having served on the ruling Council from 2003 to present, including holding the office of President from 2008-2010.  Rueben has been the Chairman of the CPD Committee since 2016, having been a member of that committee since 2001, and has been a member of the Legislation and Membership Committees.

Rueben has also served on the Board of the Barbados Coalition of Service Industries from 2009. He previously held the office of President, and currently holds the office of Treasurer.

     

J. Betty Brathwaite

Betty Brathwaite is a Partner at Deloitte, Barbados having previously served as the Office Managing Partner from 2013 – 2017.  Betty has over 25 years of experience in audit, tax and corporate services, and her portfolio of clients is wide and varied.  She has served as the Director of Independence and Ethics Officer and currently maintains responsibility for Information and Technology and Brand Compliance for the Barbados office.

Betty became a member of ICAB’s Council in 1995 and was the 3rd female President of ICAB, having previously served as Vice President.  She is a former Chairman of the ICAB Appeals, Advisory and Continuing Professional Education & Member Services Committees, and has been a member of the By-Law Review Committee.

Betty is a former President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of the Caribbean (ICAC) and has played a key role in the regional accountancy body since she was first appointed to the Board in 2001.  Betty has previously served as the ACCA International Assembly Representative for Barbados, and is a former Vice President of the Barbados Coalition of Service Industries.  She currently sits as a member of Council of the Barbados Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

      Lois Jones

Lois Jones joined ICAB in 2008.  She became a member of Council since 2013, and served as Secretary of ICAB from 2015 – 2017.  Lois is the current Chairperson of the Public Sector Committee having served in that capacity since 2014, and as a member of that committee since its formation in 2011.  Lois is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA), a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), a member of the Association of Finance Professionals (AFP) and an alumni of Oxford Brookes Institute of International Finance UK (OXIIF).

Lois is an Accountant with Barbados Light and Power Company Limited where her responsibilities include assistance with the preparation of Management Accounts, management of the external audit, coordination of the Financial Control Program, and acted as a facilitator in the Peoples Leader Essentials Program.  Lois has also worked in the Public Sector where she assisted with the transition from cash to accrual accounting and acted as Financial Controller in the Ministry of Agriculture.

Lois is an avid chess player and she is part of a group which provides outreach to the Geriatric Hospital.`

     

H. Wayne Lovell

With extensive experience spanning almost three decades, Wayne Lovell has built an expertise in domestic, regional and international tax advisory services, direct and indirect tax compliance, tax support and Value Added Tax services, as well a tax planning for high net-worth individuals.  He is a former leader and Tax Partner of the Tax Practice at KPMG Barbados and has assisted Invest Barbados on missions to Calgary, Manhattan and Latin America.  He has also assisted the Ministry of International Business with responses to the OECD Forum for Harmful Tax Practices (FHTP) on tax regimes in Barbados deemed to be ring-fenced and preferential, and amendments to enabling legislation.  Wayne has made representations to Heads of Revenue Authorities in Barbados and the Caribbean on various taxation matters on behalf of several companies and has been a regular speaker at conferences and courses held in Barbados and around the world. 

Wayne first joined Council in 2014 and has been the Chairman of ICAB’s Taxation Committee since then.   He is a former part-time Lecturer in Taxation in Taxation at the University of the West Indies, and the formed Certified General Accountants (CGA Canada_ Programme.  Wayne is currently a member of the Board of the Barbados Revenue Authority.

     

Lydia McCollin

Lydia McCollin became the Vice President Finance & Operations/ Corporate Secretary, Consolidated Finance Company Limited in 2012 after working for ANSA McAL (Barbados) Limited from 2006 as Chief Group Financial Officer.  In her current role, Lydia leads the Finance, Operations and Risk & Compliance teams of Consolidated Finance, and is responsible for financial planning and analysis, financial performance measurement, project reporting as well as financial, regulatory and administrative oversight for the Company.   Lydia is also the Company Secretary with responsibilities for Corporate Governance.  Committees on which she has or currently functions are Arrears, Assets & Liabilities and Audit.  Lydia also serves as a director on some companies within the ANSA MCAL Group.

Lydia joined ICAB in 1996 and is a Fellow of ICAB and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) with more than 20 years of experience in the field of accounting, auditing and finance.  Lydia became a Council member in 2018 and has been the Chairman of ICAB’s Ethics, Governance & Risk Committee since 2016, having previously served as the Deputy Chairman of that Committee for the previous two years.

     

Hanif Patel

Hanif Patel is a founding partner and the Managing Partner of BDO Barbados formerly Ward, Patel & Co.  He has been a member of Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Barbados since 2011. Hanif Patel is a practitioner with over 35 years’ experience in audit, tax and consultancy. He is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Barbados. Until March 2017, Hanif was a member of Accounting and Auditing Standards Committee, which he joined in the latter half of the 1990’s.  During this time he spent three years as Chairman of this Committee.

     

Wendy Sealy

A practitioner with 23 years of experience in the profession, Mrs. Wendy Sealy is the Managing Director of a local consultancy company.  She started her career at KPMG, gaining experience in public accounting having worked on small and medium sized engagements for clients in the telecommunications sector, credit unions and International Business Companies.

Wendy later moved on to Sagicor Life Inc. (formerly Barbados Mutual Life Assurance Society) where, after playing various roles, she was promoted to Vice President Finance.  Apart from being the lead in the Finance function at Sagicor Life Inc, Wendy played critical roles in various special projects throughout her career in the Sagicor Group, including business combinations and the demutualization.

Wendy is a Fellow of ICAB, as well as a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (U.K.).  She became a member of Council in 2017 and a member of the Education and Student Services Committee from January 2018.  Wendy is also a mentor with The Cherry Tree Trust.

     

Diana Weekes-Marshall

Diana Weekes-Marshall is a Fellow with both the ACCA and ICAB. She is a Chartered Accountant who currently lecturers in Accounting and Auditing at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus. Her professional career commenced at Ernst & Young and then progressed on to management positions within an offshore reinsurance company. During this time, she commenced lecturing on a part-time basis. She later went into consultancy and in 2009 became a full-time lecturer.

Diana has been an active member of ICAB since 1999, and was elected to serve on Council and its Executive Committee during 2008-2011. During that time, she served as Secretary (2008-2010) and as Treasurer (2011). She has held the position of Chair, Ethics Committee and was previously a long-standing member of the CPD Committee. At UWI, she is currently Chair for the Accounting, Investments and Financial Management Subject Area Group and works closely with the ACCA, Canadian CPA and the Accounting Student's Association which she successfully spearheaded in 2009. As an academic, her research interests are corporate governance, risk management and accounting education. She has also presented papers at a number of regional and international academic conferences and has a number of papers published in peer-review journals.  Diana became a member of Council again in 2017.

     

Darshani Workman

Darshani Workman was admitted to ICAB in 2008 and elected to Council in May 2017 having previously served on the CPD sub-committee and the 2013 ICAC Conference Planning Committee.  She is the current Chairman of the Communications Committee on which she has served since 2014 as a writer and interviewer.

Born and bred in Guyana, Darshani has spent most of her professional life in Barbados in the Real Estate & Hospitality related industries.  While an ACCA student in Guyana Darshani served on a Students’ Services Council and similarly, now looks forward to making a productive contribution in the accounting profession through ICAB.

Darshani is cognisant of her civic duties and volunteers with Optimist International for fulfilment.
